Meet the Faces Behind FunzyGear
We're a husband-and-wife team from Missouri with one simple mission: to celebrate the game we love through fun, creative pickleball apparel at FunzyGear.com.
Like so many players, our pickleball journey started over four years ago when friends said, "You really ought to try this!" We had no idea that one invitation would turn into an obsession.
My husband, being the athlete that he is, picked up the game almost immediately. Me? Let's just say I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn for a while! Thankfully, pickleball has a way of leveling the playing field. With a little practice, a lot of patience, and plenty of laughs, I eventually found my rhythm.
Before long, pickleball became our favorite way to exercise, unwind, and spend time together. We're not retired, so we don't get to play nearly as often as we'd like, but every chance we get, you'll find us at our local pickleball club.
One of the best parts of this sport isn't just the game—it's the people. Our club plays hard, laughs hard, and knows how to have a great time both on and off the court. Along the way, we've learned from clinics, rallied with friends, competed in leagues and tournaments, and picked up countless tips, tricks, and lifelong friendships.
What continues to amaze us most is that pickleball truly is for everyone. We've shared the court with beginners playing their very first game, seasoned tournament competitors, teenagers, retirees, and even an incredible 85-year-old player who can still teach the rest of us a thing or two! Age doesn't matter nearly as much as heart—and pickleball players have plenty of it.
That's exactly why we started this store.
Everywhere we looked, we kept seeing the same designs over and over again, which some are just timeless - we get it. However we thought, "Wouldn't it be a riot to create something different?" So that's exactly what we're doing.
Because we're on the courts ourselves, we understand the little things only pickleball players truly appreciate—the friendly trash talk, the inside jokes, the great partners, the tough losses, the hard-earned victories, and the laughter that keeps us coming back. Those experiences inspire every design we create. We love taking those everyday moments and turning them into designs that fellow pickleball enthusiasts can relate to, smile about, and proudly wear both on and off the court. We're not just designing shirts - we're celebrating the community that has given us so many friendships, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Some of our designs are timeless classics that any pickleball lover can wear year after year. Others are made simply to make people laugh. While we all enjoy improving our game, we also believe pickleball is supposed to be fun. Some of the best memories happen between points, after matches, and while sharing stories with friends.
We're still growing, and that's intentional. We'd rather take our time creating designs that players genuinely love than rush out hundreds of shirts. We regularly ask fellow pickleball players for feedback because you're the people we're designing for. Your ideas, opinions, and sense of humor help shape what comes next.
